Cars in Germany's City Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Authorities reported they were notified by a individual who noticed a car in Hanau smeared with red-colored liquid

Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.

Law enforcement report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.

The substance had been placed in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then found numerous other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials report initial examinations suggest the substance was probably blood from a person.

"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; authorities are presently not cognizant of any harm in association with the event," they added.

Local authorities stated they were attempting "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the public for details.

A high-ranking political figure said the attack rendered him speechless and had to be solved rapidly.

"This act affects the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right violent incident five years ago," he stated on online, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
